Welcome to our offering on questions and answers relating to AWS. AWS is a very highly exciting field to be in. It is a must-have certification for an IT professional. In this session, we seek to make its understanding simple and easy to digest. We have tried to answer what the jargon and concepts in this field mean so that you are better equipped to handle tricky interview question. We wish you the best!
1st Round: AWS Basic interview questions and answers:
Q1) What is AWS?
Ans:AWS is short for Amazon Web Service. It can be defined as a collection of remote computing services, also called cloud computing platform. The name given to this new area of cloud computing also goes by the name of IaaS or Infrastructure as a Service.
Q2) Explain S3
Ans:S3, or Simple Storage Service, can be used for S3 interface to store and retrieve any amount of data, at any time and from anywhere on the web. It works on the “pay as you go” payment model.
Q3) How is an instance related to AMI?
Ans:A single AMI allows you to launch multiple types of instances. The hardware of the host computer used for your instance is defined by an instance type. Each instance type comes with its own compute and memory capabilities. The launch of an instance makes it look like a traditional host. It is possible to interact in the manner that we would with any computer.
Q4) How is a request sent to Amazon S3?
Ans:Amazon S3 being a REST service, using the REST API or the AWS SDK wrapper libraries that wrap the underlying Amazon S3 REST API makes it possible to send requests on Amazon S3..
Q5) How many buckets can be created in AWS by default?
Ans:It is possible to create up to 100 buckets in each of your AWS accounts by default.
Q6) How do you explain T2 instances?
Ans:These are instances designed to provide moderate baseline performance and the capability needed for accelerating to higher performance as required by the workload.
Q7) What are the possible connection issues one might face while connecting to your instance?
Ans:These are some of the possible connection errors one might encounter while connecting instances:
- Connection could time out
- User key may not get recognized by the server
- Server may refuse our key or no supported authentication method may be available
- Host key may not have been found, leading to permission denial·
- A private key file that could be unprotected
- Error using MindTerm on Safari Browser
- Error using Mac OS X RDP Client
Q8) What are the key components of AWS?
Ans: 1. Route 53: A DNS web service
2. Simple E-mail Service: This allows the user to send e-mail using RESTFUL API call or via regular SMTP
3. Elastic Block Store (EBS): The EBS is used for offering persistent storage volumes that attach to EC2 so that you persist data past the lifespan of a single EC2
4. Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2): The EC2 provides on-demand computing resources for hosting applications. Its effectiveness is best felt in situations where there are unpredictable workloads
5. Identity and Access Management: The Identity and Access Management features offers enhanced security and identity management for your AWS account
6.Simple Storage Device or (S3): This is a storage device that is most widely used in AWS service
7. CloudWatch: CloudWatch allows administrators to view and collect key to monitor AWS resources. It also enables the notification alarm feature in case of trouble.
Q9) Explain AMI
Ans:AMI, which expands to Amazon Machine Image, is a template that provides the information (an operating system, an application server and applications) that is needed to launch an instance. This is a copy of the AMI running as a virtual server in the cloud. The option of launching instances from as many different AMIs as you need is given in AMI.
Q10) What all are included in an AMI?
Ans:This are included in an AMI:
- A template for the root volume for the instance
- A block device mapping that determines the volumes to attach to the instance when it is launched
- Launch permissions which decide which AWS accounts can avail the AMI to launch instances
Q11) In VPC with private and public subnets, which is the subnet into which database servers should ideally be launched?
Q12) What is the point of using the buffer in Amazon Web Services?
Ans:The point of using the buffer is used in making the system more robust to manage traffic or load by synchronizing different component. Normally, components receive and process the requests in an unbalanced way, The buffer balances the components and makes it work at the same speed to provide faster services.
Q13. Is it possible to run multiple websites on an EC2 server using a single IP address?
Ans: No. To run multiple websites on EC2, more than one elastic IP is required.
2nd Round: AWS Technical Interview Questions and answers:
Q1) How does Amazon S3 differ from EC2?
Ans:These are the differences between EC2 and Amazon S3:
- It is a cloud web service used for hosting your application
- It is a data storage system where any amount of data can be stored
- It is like a huge computer machine which can run either Linux or Windows and can handle application like PHP, Python, Apache or any databases
- It has a REST interface and uses secure HMAC-SHA1 authentication keys
Q2) Can you vertically scale an Amazon instance? How ?
Ans:Yes, you can. This is how:
- Spin up a new larger instance than the one you are currently running
- Pause that instance and detach the root webs volume from the server and discard
- Then stop your live instance and detach its root volume
- Note the unique device ID and attach that root volume to your new server
- And start it again
Q3) Can you detail the benefits of being a cloud architect, especially an AWS cloud architect?
Ans:For organizations that operate globally, cutting costs and efforts is a high priority. The high cost of human skilled resource catalyzed the birth of cloud solutions. This new generation of talented individuals, called cloud architects, carries with it the depth of knowledge and expertise in offering a solution on these platforms. These solutions several businesses scale up with ease.
Amazon has pioneered the cloud market and is the most prevalent provider globally. It is also a highly sought-after and profitable cloud solution. Amazon provides the AWS Cloud Certification, which is indispensable for a contemporary IT professional who wants to make a career in cloud computing.
Q4) What is the exam cost and format for each AWS Certification?
Q5) Does AWS offer a free account subscription for its cloud the way Facebook does?
Ans:It does. AWS offers a one-time, annual free subscription for all its services. To take this service, you need to create an AWS account registration using your email and fill out your details.
Q6)Describe the other benefits of getting AWS certified. How much value does getting AWS certified carry?
Ans:An AWS certified professional is in high demand across the globe. This checklist helps you understand how to brand yourself with AWS certification:
Q7) Expand the acronyms SAAS, PAAS, and IAAS?
Ans:SAAS is an acronym for Software as A Service. This is how this system works: any program that you write or any software you create is first hosted on the cloud. After this, you can license it out to your customers from there as a service which can be free, but can also earn you a licensing fee. It makes availability of your program to a global audience much, much more easily than through traditional ways,
PAAS stands for Platform as A Service: In a nutshell, PAAS complements a small or a mid-sized company’s requirements for networking, IT support, hardware engineers, etc. by offering a solution that is already configured for you. This resolves the fundamental issue and helps you to run your software. PAAS addresses all the issues of a firewall, networking, operating systems and databases. As a user, you only need to deploy your software solution on this platform.
IAAS, or Infrastructure As A Service, allows you to get access to computing resources like servers, IP addresses, routers, data centers, CPUs, etc. Tt comes with all the components inside many data-centers based on how much compute, storage, network bandwidth and so on that your product needs.
Q8)Does AWS allow me to carry out fancy engineering stuff like Big Data, Machine Learning, AI and Robotics?
Ans:Indeed! In being a PAAS platform solution, AWS supplies most of the Big Data platforms. You not only get access to EMR (Elastic Map Reduce, Spark, Spark SQL, Hive, Sqoop, HDFS, Yarn, etc. as services); you could also deploy a third party Big Data solution of Cloudera or Hortonworks on AWS instances and set up your own cluster. And yes, AWS also gives you access to Amazon's cutting-edge GPU servers to train you neural network models. It also gives you the ability to train or build bots using AWS Lex, Code skills for voice assistant Alexa.
Well, as for robotics, the proof of AWS’ suitability lies in the fact that companies have built humanoid robots using AWS.
In addition to all these, AWS also has its own Internet of Things cloud offering as part of the AWS offering. This helps users integrate AWS with the Internet of Things and makes them experiment with how they can connect devices further.
