  • The Significance of Unity (Part 1)  

    Introduction:

    Jesus’ longest prayer (John 17:11, 20-23)

    God’s Eternal Purpose (Ephesians 1:9-10)

    Example of Unity (Mark 3:24-25)

    1. Definition of Unity (Ephesians 3:4-6)

    a. Unity is Not absence of conflict.

    b. Unity is Not just letting someone else have their way.

    c. Unity is Not just going along with the crowd.

    d. Unity is Singleness of purpose!

    2. God’s Steps to Bringing Unity

    a. First, God reconciles people to Himself Ephesians 2:4-6)

    b. Second, God reconciles people to one another (Ephesians 2:13-17)

    c. Third, God makes individuals into one body (Ephesians 3:4,6)

    d. Fourth, God makes us a dwelling place for the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 2:21-22)

    e. God placed everything under Jesus (Ephesians 1:22-23)

    3. Your Responsibility in Unity

    a. As an individual- Promote unity and avoid division! (Ephesians 4:1-3, Romans 16:17, I Corinthians 1:10)
